We are looking for an accomplished M&A analyst to support senior members of a team primarily focused on buy-side M&A origination and execution for A&D industry leading corporations and financial sponsors. A competitive candidate will possess:

The Position

Person Specific

RSAdvisors are undertaking recruitment of an entry-level Analyst to join our UK team to gain experience in consultancy and the aerospace & defence industries. The role is ideally suited to a recent graduate having completed a Master’s programme within War Studies, Security Studies, Public Policy, International Studies or similar, and/or with some work experience.

The qualities we will look for in a candidate are:

• Interest in and enthusiasm for aerospace or defence technology, its usage and application
• Understanding of the context of modern military operations
• Interest in the practice and process of consultancy

Who are we looking for?

Successful applicants must demonstrate:

• A passion for the aerospace, defense, space, government services, or emerging technology sectors
• Strong analytical skills and comfort with complex quantitative analysis
• Curiosity, energy, positivity and the ability to work in teams in a dynamic environment
• Ability to generate hypotheses, design and conduct research and synthesize and present conclusions
• Prior experience in the sector, especially in strategy, corporate development and M&A diligence

Primary day-to-day responsibilities – Analyst/Associate

• Perform primary- and secondary-source research using a variety of inputs, including industry-specific databases, trade and general news, company reports, industry reports, and other sources as needed
• Track relevant competitive and industry trends & dynamics
• Gain progressively more project management experience
• Create and manage excel models and databases
• Assist in distilling data into discrete analyses to be incorporated into larger reports
• Deliver/communicate reports and findings to management and/or executive leadership

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Finance, Business, Political Science, or Public Policy
• 2 to 5+ years of professional experience, with at least 2 years of relevant sector background
• Internship, work experience, or demonstrated interest in the aerospace, defense, or government services sector – or – with a consulting firm, investment bank, private equity, or venture capital firm
• Demonstrated skills in creating presentation deliverables, interacting with clients / customers, and design of Excel-based financial and/or market models
• Strong acumen in business writing and communication with clients and team members

Strategy Consulting Spring Analyst, London, UK

Who are we looking for?

RSAdvisors are undertaking a spring internship programme offering the opportunity for a candidate to join our UK team to gain experience in consultancy and the aerospace & defence industries. The role is ideally suited to a postgraduate student or recent graduate pursuing or having completed a programme within War Studies, Security Studies, Public Policy, International Studies or similar. Successful candidates must demonstrate:

• Interest in and enthusiasm for defence technology, its usage and application
• Understanding of the context of modern military operations
• Strong analytical skills and comfort with both complex quantitative analysis and problem solving
• Curiosity, energy, positivity and the ability to work in teams and under dynamic conditions
• Interest in the practice and process of consultancy

Preferred qualifications

• Strong research skills
• Good communication skills, both orally and in written form
• Strong acumen in writing for business and dealing face-to-face with clients
• Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of programmes
• Courses / modules, or interest in, Economics or Finance are considered an advantage but not required
• Additional language skills are considered an advantage but not required

We do not expect a candidate to have previous consulting experience or possess an exhaustive knowledge of current defence technology and equipment. We do expect enthusiasm for the subject and a willingness to learn. We expect the intern to be available for a total of 35 hours per week for the duration of the internship (8 weeks between March and May 2023), though we are willing to be flexible to accommodate academic requirements. This is an unsponsored position.
